VNA Elder Care Program helps the elderly manage physical and cognitive limitations.

Elder Home Care Program

The graying of the "Baby Boomer" generation and medical breakthroughs that are extending life expectancies are rapidly making elder care one of our society's greatest challenges and transforming family life in the process. The Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNA) Elder Home Care Program is designed to provide comprehensive solutions by serving both the needs of the elderly and the loved ones who often take on the role of primary caregivers.

The goal of the VNA Elder Care Program is to help the elderly manage physical and cognitive limitations that often accompany aging and enjoy their best possible quality-of-life in the comfort of their own homes. In doing so, we also address and help alleviate the stresses encountered by the growing number of people who are caring for elderly family members who require constant supervision and assistance with routine, day-to-day activities.

The VNA Eldercare Program encompasses a myriad of services including:

  • Skilled visiting nurses
  • Rehabilitation therapies
  • Personal care provided by certified home health aides
  • Social services/counseling
  • Pre-hospital admission and discharge planning
  • Palliative and hospice care

The caregiver support component of the VNA Elder Care Program encompasses:

  • A Private Care Services group which offers customized options in accordance with its clients' specific needs, lifestyle and resource levels
  • Friendship House, a social adult day center, that provides a respite for primary caregivers by offering a safe haven where their loved ones can find acceptance, companionship and activities to help maintain their physical and cognitive skills
  • The In-Home Caregiver Education and Support Program, a program that provides personalized, one-on-one training to unpaid caregivers to improve their skills and effectiveness (open to all Morris County residents)
  • Respite services for caregivers who qualify for the Statewide Respite Program

The VNA is a leading provider of care for the elderly. If you are in need of assistance, click here to request more information about this program or, call 1-800-WE-VISIT.
