Nov. is Home Care & Hospice Month11/2/2021 Reasons to care in November... November is a busy month. Veteran's Day is the time to care about all those who served, World Kindness Day is November 13, and Thanksgiving begins the annual season of giving. Even November's Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Small Business Day, and National Pickle Day don't put a damper on November's giving spirit. November is also Home Care & Hospice Month and National Caregivers Month. During this very busy month, please take a moment just to say thank you in person, on Facebook, Google, or on our web page, to the home care and hospice nurses, therapists, aides, and other healthcare professionals who selflessly provide care at home to those facing medical challenges. You may also contact our VNANNJ Foundation at 973-000-000 to learn more about supporting our home care and hospice team. Or simply make a donation HERE in support of VNA Homecare and Hospice. September is Healthy Aging Month9/7/2021 Here are some great tips from Healthy Aging Magazine. We all know about staying fit and eating healthy, but there is more to it than that. What makes you happy also makes you healthy and younger than your years. • Do Not Act Your Age Some people may say this is denial, but we say it’s positive thinking. • Be Positive Be positive in your conversations and your actions every day. Just give it a try. • Ditch The Negativity Distance yourself from people who do not have a positive outlook on life. Surround yourself with energetic, happy, positive people of all ages and you will be happier, too. • Walk Walk like a vibrant, healthy person. Try taking 10,000 steps not only for your health but to see the neighbors. • Stand Tall Stand up straight! Knock off the appearance of a few extra years with this trick. Are you holding your stomach in, have your shoulders back, chin up? • How Are Your Pearly Whites? Your teeth are just as important to your good health as the rest of your body. Nothing says old more than yellowing teeth! See your dentist regularly. • Lonely? Do something about it now. Volunteer your time, take a class, invite someone to meet for lunch, brunch, dinner, or coffee. • Get Those Annual Check-Ups Make this month the time to set up your annual physical and other health screenings. • Find Your Inner Artist Have you always wanted to paint a picture or play the piano? You don't need to be good at it but you just might surprise yourself!
